Qualified electricians fill a strategic need from the Twin Cities to the communities of western Wisconsin. Electrical work benefits schools, medical facilities, airports and more using the latest lighting technologies that save energy. Let’s take a look at our infrastructure.
Every four years the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) releases a report on the nation’s infrastructure. Overall, the 2017 Infrastructure Report Card gives a low D+ across 16 different categories. The scorecard remains similar to the last report in 2013.
What about bridges? At Neo Electrical, electrical and lighting solutions for bridges ranks among our core capabilities. Minnesota’s and Wisconsin’s bridges scored slightly better than the average that ASCE awarded nationwide. About 6% of Minnesota’s bridges are ranked “deficient” in the report while needs are greater in Wisconsin with 8.7% of bridges getting low marks. Nationally, 9.1% of the nation’s 614,387 bridges were marked down.
Upgrades to the region’s bridges can include the removal of old lighting and replacement with energy-efficient systems. In our portfolio, one of the projects we highlight is the Blatnik Bridge serving Duluth where we installed new LED technology. We also provided all of the roadway lighting for the mile-long St. Croix Crossing Bridge connecting Minnesota and Wisconsin as detailed in our blog post Lighting up the St. Croix Crossing Bridge Project.
Recently, researchers focused on repairs and improvements to post-tensioned bridges built in Minnesota before 2003. An article on the website of Minnesota Transportation Research noted that the MnDOT has “commissioned a two-phase project to develop techniques for evaluating these structures.” Bridges are mission-critical for the public and private sector.
Experienced electricians do more than just install lights. We do work that keeps society functioning. Bridges, along with schools, medical facilities, and airports and more are projects that Neo Electrical tackles by relying on our experience with a proven safety record.
